Yes, it’s true, I left Tache home alone to build me a house while I dashed off to meet my girlfriends for a fun-filled weekend in warm, sunny Scottsdale, AZ. But, before you offer Tache up for sainthood, let me assure you he did not work on the house while I was gone. Luckily for me (and my guilty conscience), he was called out on two tows over the weekend. PHEW! The universe obviously felt some time away from the building project was necessary. I got some well-needed girl time and he enjoyed a little adventure on the high seas. Win-win!
There’s been a lot of progress the last couple weeks – none of which will ever be seen again once the floor is finished. It will all be under the floorboards, so to speak. Technically, we will not have floorboards per se since we’re doing a poured concrete slab, but that fabulous 80s song popped into my head and I ran with it. So, I’m singing Tache’s praises with this Song from Under the Floorboards.
Since no one will ever see any of this, here are some pics of what will be under our floor:
Plumbing Lines
Downstairs bathroom
Kitchen sink
Lots and Lots of Dirt
So many loads of dirt
Pushing dirt around
Packing it down
Wire Mesh and Rebar
Garage slab with wire mesh
Downstairs wall reinforcements
Stuff to Keep Us Warm
Insulation
In-floor heating tubes
Heated kitchen floor!
Luckily we’re not feeling the effects of the concrete strike in Seattle. Concrete comes tomorrow for the garage and wall reinforcement areas. We’ll let that set over the weekend and then the big pour will be next week. Since the concrete will be our finished floor, we’re almost done with, well, the floor. Stay tuned!
