That’s a wrap!

After setting a reasonably achievable 2024 New Year’s resolution of writing one blog post a month, I just barely missed my goal by exactly 11. So close! My lack of blog writing might appear to indicate nothing has happened, but quite the opposite. Given as of today it’s the start of the next year, I should probably save myself for my forthcoming 2025 writing resolution. Instead, let’s look at the year through pictures.

Tache and I went to Fiji for two glorious weeks in tropical paradise.

The house took a back seat this year, but the deck was ready just in time for summer!

The year was also packed with fun adventures and summer visitors. Jodi and I took a bike trip to AZ on the USFS per diem. Thanks, Meg! We made it to a few concerts (The Rolling Stones and Red Hot Chili Peppers) and took a couple quick trips around the PNW (Vancouver Island and Oregon wine country). I went to CO a couple times… maybe for a 50th birthday party with an open bar – I can’t remember. While home, friends and I enjoyed the Olympic Peninsula with lots of hiking and backpacking.

Lastly, after 9 solid years of Dirk Jiggler grinding it out at my last job, I am now newly employed with the state of Washington – and it looks like I’m going to have to actually, like, work work.

As it turns out, if you build a house with a guest room, guests show up!

Some fall fun before the start of the new job

I’m sure I’m missing some other highlights, and that will be my motivation to write more next year – or I mean, this year. Happy 2025, everyone! Hope to see you for some good times, belly laughs, and memorable adventures.

A few of us decided to ring in the New Year with a dip in Discovery Bay. My friend’s camera captured the moment Moxie caught her tail on fire. The year is off to a great start!
